The Ballroom Dance Association at the Ohio State University (also known as: BDA, and the OSU Ballroom Dance Team)
is a student sport club dedicated to intercollegiate competitive dancesport. We are comprised of part or full
time college students, staff, and faculty and their spouses who train regularly in formal sessions every quarter
with the common goal of excelling in amateur competition. Prospective team members are required to
try-out during special try-out sessions specifically for that purpose. Team members are required to attend
practice regularly, as well as at least one competition per quarter when applicable. There is no limit as to the
number of competitions a member may attend. Team members are not required to keep partners, although new members
find it easier to train and practice with someone with which they are comfortable.

The BDA at OSU is governed by all regulations as put forth by the United States Amateur Ballroom Dance Association (USABDA) and the Youth College Network (YCN). As such, a collegiate competitor is defined as an amateur, under the age of 35, who attends a private or public institution part or full time. Eligibility extends one year after graduation. Partnerships may also be retained, provided that one partner retain student status, the partnership was formed while both individuals were students, and both partners fulfill the other criteria mentioned above. Members at Ohio State need not attend the Ohio State University's Main Campus.
